About Rooftop Tent Care & Maintenance
How should I store my rooftop tent long - term?
First, make sure the tent is completely dry before storage. If you have to close the tent wet, open it and dry it as soon as possible to prevent mold and mildew growth.
When removing the tent, it's best to have another person assist you to avoid injury and damage to your vehicle. If you're removing it alone, consider using a hoist system. If storing in a garage, avoid placing the tent directly on cement as it may damage the exterior cover. Use a foam pad or a protective mat. You can store most tent models on their side. To protect the fabric from rodents, dust, and moisture, wrap the tent in a tarp or stretch wrap.
How should I maintain and clean my tent's cover?
When the cover is dirty, use mild dish soap and a soft washcloth to clean it. Gently scrub the cover and then let it dry naturally. The cover is exposed to the elements more than other parts of the tent, so it may require more frequent cleaning.
How should I clean/treat the tent's body?
Most of our tent bodies are made of synthetic fabric. Use a cleaner and waterproof treatment specifically designed for synthetic fabrics. Clean and treat your tent at least once a year. Use a soft brush or an air compressor to clean the fabricated components. For the aluminum frames, you can use a mild to medium - grade scouring pad to remove dirt and make them look new.
